EDUCATION BASTARDIZED UNDER OKOWA IN DELTA

DELTAN LAWYER PETER EKAVWO ESQ., SPEAKS

(Emoghwe Primary School, Esaba, Ughelli-South, Delta State)
This Picture below represents the sorry state of Public Schools system in Delta State since the assumption of the administration of Okowa in Delta State.

For Governor Okowa, the education of the future generations of Children of the poor is a matter to be treated with triviality. Thus, the picture above is the situation across public schools across Delta State, despite the huge allocations from the federation account and bail-out funds from the Federal Government.

Education has been described as the door that opens the young mind to opportunities, which enables him or her to face the world's challenges and conquer it. Thus, the right government would ussually place a high premium on education. But this is not the case for Governor Okowa.

The former governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and James Ibori made some effort through construction of modern schools, improvement in the State owned Universities, introduced foreign scholarships, bursaries, free WAEC and NECO etc, all in a bid to encourage the growth of education in Delta.
However, under Governor Okowa, he has cancelled these projects and continue to promote mediocrity and thee death of public education in Delta State.
Governor Okowa has thus introduced the following "smart" agenda in the area of education in Delta State:
1. Dilapidating Primary and Secondary School buildings across the State.
2. Cancellation of Free WAEC and NECO for Poor kids in the State.
3. Cancellation of Foreign Scholarship for Deltans.
4. Cancellation of DESOPADEC bursary for Deltans.
5. Irregular payments of bursaries
6. Irregular payments of Primary School teachers in the State.
7. Irregular payments of pensions to retired teachers in the State.
8. Delayed payment of GRATUITIES to retired teachers, some as much as 5-6 years.
7. Indiscrimination imposition of levies and fees in public schools.
9. Lack of modern teaching aids in public Schools.
10. Indiscriminate Hike in fees of Delta State University and other higher institutions in the State.
11. Withdrawal of accreditation to many Faculties of the State University etc

Now, this may not really be the headache of Governor Okowa, as his Children and wards obviously would not attend these type of poorly funded schools. Therefore, it would be convenient to subject the poor masses to this type of system.

Most first-term Governors give their best during their first term, all in a bid to attract the love and votes of the people for a second term. Now if what we have in education is OKOWA's best, Deltans must then brace up for total collapse of public education in Delta if he is voted back as Governor of the State.

OKOWA SIMPLY DOES NOT DESERVE A SECOND TERM! A VOTE FOR HIM IN 2019 IS A VOTE FOR BACKWARDNESS AND DEPRIVATIONS OF THE POOR TO QUALITY EDUCATION.

Your PVC is a weapon to hire and fire any politician of choice. Please use it wisely for sake of the future of Delta State. Delta is great, Delta shall be GREAT again!
